Family in town went to one of our favorite places. Started with fried green tomatoes and alligator loved them more than enough to share between the four of us. I had their shrimp and grits - so yummy. Two had crab cakes and another had the fried grouper sandwich. Everything was delicious. Rene took excellent care of us. Great experience. Love this place.
So pleased with the food and service, i have to write. We stopped here before checking into our weeklong rental, and received excellent care. After a mixup with seating (we arrived at the same time as a larger party, who also had a dog with them, so were mistakenly thought to be part of their group)we got our menus and setups out on the deck. Just in time, as 3:00 seems to be late lunch time on the water. Our order (mojito. Water, draft beer and fried calamari)arrived quickly. Food was hot, drinks cold and the calamari was in a delicate tempura style coating rather than the heavier type we find in too many southern restaurants. The marinara had a light spice, but there were also multiple hot sauces to make it to taste. It included both tentacles and rings and was a good starter for two. My husband chose the red shrimp salad roll, and it came with potato wedges. The shrimps were fresh, chopped in good sized pieces, and not over dressed. Nicely chilled in a properly toasted bun. The potatoes had a delicate spice coating and were really crisp on the exterior while the centers were hot and softly fluffy. They held the cooking heat well through the meal and were finished before they could get limp or greasy. Excellent cooking. I had the grilled octopus and bean salad. I am astonished at receiving so well made a dish from a casual fish house.. the beans were firm but cooked through and thoroughly chilled. They were plated on top of a fresh vinaigrette salad with cold light greens that weren't limp nor overhandled nor bruised. On top of that was grilled octopus tentacles, just charred on the edges, warmed through, and cut into rounds. It was exactly the size that I'd want for a late, light lunch. The vinaigrette was delicate, and enhanced by the squeeze of lemon from the added wedge. It is rare that i find a dish to be cooked and plated perfectly. It happened today. The deck has a lovely view of the marina. Our server, Rae, was efficient, friendly to us and our little dog who has good dining manners, but despite my disability is just a pet, so we always eat outdoors if he's with us. The other servers out on the deck were all similarly friendly and efficient looking, and seemed to adapt well to very differing patrons. What a delightful experience!
Had the fried shrimp and scallops. The shrimp were way better than the very small scallops. Way too many potato wedges, would have rather had more shrimp. The picture of the potato wedges was after I ate my limit of fries... still a lot of potatoes. Makes it LOOK like the plate is full of shrimp and scallops. Limited indoor seating. Summertime is hot for sitting outside. Thankfully the hostess moved us from full sun to an area of partial shade and where the fan was blowing.
Great devil crab and crab cakes would definitely recommend Great service and atmosphere
A visit to St Augustine is never complete without a dinner at Fish Camp. If you like shrimp and grits, I suggest you try it here. It is so good! Other stand outs are the fried baskets and the whole fish. Service is great and the setting is perfect for families or even small parties. I don't think I have one negative thing to say about visiting here.
Very impressed with my second visit!! Staff was very accommodating. Waiter was superb!!! My salt pepper seared Tuna was excellent. My wife's special of the day halibut she said was perfect! I loved there clam chowder it was not to creamy not to watery. If you love clam chowder this is one of the best! House Cab and Pilsner beer was perfect! We had the Bread Pudding a la mode was very good!
Best food that our family had while visiting! We ordered the fried calamari as an appetizer and it was absolutely delicious. Then ordered the seafood linguine (with seafood on side as someone is vegetarian) that was outstanding! Our food came out quick, and I recommend making reservations to ensure little/ no wait time. Next, we ordered the fried mkt fish which was delicious. Finally we got the shrimp and grits (that were out of this world). Overall, definitely would recommend and come here again!
We recently enjoyed a fantastic lunch at St. Augustine Fish Camp with my family, and it was a delightful experience. We started with the smoked fish spread and octopus for appetizers. Both were incredible--the smoked fish spread was rich and flavorful, and the octopus was perfectly tender and delicious. For my main course, I had the shrimp and grits. It was absolutely outstanding--the shrimp were fresh and perfectly cooked, and the grits were creamy and seasoned to perfection. The dish was a true Southern delight. The atmosphere at St. Augustine Fish Camp is inviting and perfect for a family outing. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure we had a great experience.
It's a wonderful place! We had initially tried coming here twice, but the wait times were too long which speaks volumes for this place. The hostesses weren't that friendly, but the bartender was great. We came for an app and a drink and they were spectacular. I would have loved to sit outside, but that wasn't possible as this place stays packed until close. I'd recommend making a reservation early if you want to come here. We ordered: - Fish Camp Old Fashioned for me (Superb) - Laid Back for my girlfriend (Superb) - Fried Green Tomatoes with Herbed Goat Cheese (Superb) I love the whole vibe of this place from the inside to the outside and everyone seemed to be happy and enjoying themselves. It's a 4.5 star place and if the hostesses had smiles on their faces and were more friendly it's easily a 5 star place to eat, drink, and enjoy yourself. Enjoy :D
A very cool restaurant with a nice vibe and modern setting. I was impressed with their menu as it's packed with tasty cocktails, delicious appetizers and a wide range of main entrées to choose from. Plenty of seating at the oversized bar with some cool local brews on tap. The outdoor seating has plenty of tables with big shade umbrellas. And some picnic tables down below. The appetizer was absolutely amazing. Royal Red Shrimp with a Marie Rose sauce. Soft tender and so tasty. Almost like scallops. All on a bed of shredded lettuce and shallots. By far the best shrimp I've ever tasted. I'm a big Wedge fan and theirs was over the top delicious. Fresh blue cheese, crispy bacon and some cherry tomatoes. Yummers. The service and cocktails were both 5 star awesome. Throughout the meal the attention to detail was spot on. Never an empty water glass, very impressive menu knowledge and always with a smile. Definitely bookmark St. Augustine Fish Camp. Whether you live in the St Augustine area or just visiting, it's a must stop kinda place.
